ODU Benefits Conference
Dear Faculty and Staff,
As we approach the final weeks leading up to the Benefits Conference on April 29-30, 2024, in Waitzer Hall, and May 1, 2024, virtually, we would like to provide additional information, insights, and reminders to help you prepare.
Conference Overview
The Benefits Conference presents an opportunity to provide information and resources regarding essential health plans, flexible spending accounts, and retirement savings options available to newly hired state employees, thereby preparing you in advance of health coverage open enrollment, which runs from May 1, 2024 through May 15, 2024, as well as select Virginia Retirement System (VRS) options this July. IMPORTANT REMINDER: During the conference, you will not be signing up for eligible benefits as this multi-day event is for informational purposes only.
Group Sessions
In-person group sessions will feature a 50-minute comprehensive benefits overview from representatives of the Virginia Retirement System, ODU Benefits, CAPTRUST, Fidelity, Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA), and VaLORS. There is plenty of availability, and we encourage your attendance. Please visit the conference website at https://events.bizzabo.com/ODUBenefitsConference to schedule your session(s).
Individual Consultations
We are excited to see the enthusiastic response to the 25-minute individual consultations. With 736 individual time slots filling up fast, we are actively working to open more opportunities. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The conference is not the only chance to have one-on-one consultations with the vendors. Vendor access will be included on the resource page at the conclusion of the conference.
Online and Virtual Opportunities
For those unable to attend in person, presentations will be available on the conference website beginning on May 1, 2024. For those interested in a virtual consultation with TIAA, you may visit their website www.tiaa.org/schedulenow or call 1.800.732.8353 to schedule an appointment directly with a representative at your convenience. If you are new to TIAA, you will select “guest access.”
The Benefits Conference website will remain active through open enrollment and will include all the conference resource materials, along with vendor contact information. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing valuable information and personal insights to help you prepare for employment at ODU!
