ODU Recreation & Wellness
ODU Recreation & Wellness for EVMS and EVMS School of Health Professions Students
Allow us to introduce ourselves: We are ODU Recreation & Wellness. As part of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University, ODU Recreation & Wellness will be a strong partner when it comes to your personal wellness, fitness, and recreation.
As of July 1, you have free access to three gym facilities during the semesters you are actively enrolled in classes:
- Waitzer Hall Wellness Center (WHWC) at 735 Fairfax Avenue, Suite 212
- Student Recreation & Well-Being Center (SRWC) at 4700 Powhatan Avenue
- University Village Fitness Center (UFC) at 4608 Monarch Way
If you were previously paying for a membership to the SRWC/UFC, that paid membership will be terminated by July 1. No further action is needed. You can read more about facilities, membership, and policies online.
For smooth check-in among those who access our spaces, we require the use of the ODU Rec Well App. We encourage you to download this app before your first visit to any of the three spaces mentioned above. Please note this policy includes the use of the Waitzer Hall Wellness Center. You can sign into your account by clicking the ODU MIDAS button and using your University credentials (MIDAS ID and password). To check into the gym facilities, click the “Rec ID” button and scan the unique barcode on our barcode scanners. Please note that screenshots do not work.
Get excited, because you will have access to free group fitness classes, such as yoga, Pilates, cycling, and more at the SRWC. You can claim your spot in a fitness class at any facility up to seven days in advance in the ODU Rec Well App! Please be sure to follow all prompts to the very end, after which you will receive a confirmation email, to officially save your spot in class.
At the SRWC, you will have access to play pick-up games and intramural sports, rent outdoor equipment, climb the rock wall, go on adventure trips, and more! If you have questions about any of these programs, email recwell@odu.edu and the right person will get back to you!
During this transition, we encourage you to share your positive experiences and helpful feedback. You can submit a note to the Director of Recreation & Wellness through this online form. If you’d like to speak to someone specifically, visit the ODU Recreation & Wellness staff directory.
We look forward to welcoming you! Connect with us @odurecwell on Instagram in the meantime. Have a great day!
Live Well, Learn Well!
